Burger diet linked to higher childhood asthma risk

Children who eat three or more burgers a week may be at a higher risk of asthma and wheezing, but a healthy diet rich in fruit and fish seems to stave off the risk, according to a large international study.

Researchers from Germany, Spain and Britain who studied data on 50,000 children across the world found the link between burgers and asthma was strongest in rich nations where diets with high levels of junk food are more common. A meat-heavy diet itself has no bearing on the prevalence of asthma, according to the scientists who conducted the study. Yet, frequent burger eating could be a signal for other lifestyle factors which raise asthma risk.

“This is a sign that the link is not strongly related to the food itself, but that burgers are a proxy for other lifestyle and environmental factors like obesity and lack of exercise,” said Gabriele Nagel of the Institute of Epidemiology at Ulm University, Germany, who led the study.

What chemicals are they sticking in our food anyway? And How Dare They! I am so glad that your site carries the film: Food Inc. That is just a start. It didn’t go into the fact that Monsanto and DuPont..even Bayer, puts the pesticide, herbicide, viruses and now they are working on “Pharma” drugs and vaccines that go directly into the DNA of each seed, so that it is now in the roots, the stem, the flowe, the “fruit” of each plant. When that is eaten by any living thing – no matter what age, it goes directly into the brain, the kidneys, the liver, and other important organs – and stays there!
I have been going “all over the world” on the internet to find out about what is happening to our food – and it is a real killer!
So many countries don’t want our Gm seeds, much less our ingredients that have Genetically Modified “stuff” in them!
That is why there is an increase in Asthma, Diabetes, Emotional Problems….the list goes on.
GM food is so very harmful to us, but also think of the animals and insects. The migratory birds are flying hungry because they can’t eat GM seeds! The polinators of the world are at jeopardy: the bees and the butterflies. The ladybugs! The worms that keep our soil healthy! The ants! The frogs that eat the ants and the horned toads too…all are dying off!
Here are some sites to check out: (France) http://www.Altercampagne.free.tv, (Italy?) http://www.BellaCiao.org, http://www.UCS USA.org (maps of pharma crops accross the USA)
look at: UCSUSA.org/food_and_agriculture?Science_and impacts….also “China Problem”, http://www.ScientificAmericanWorldView.com look for: “Successes in Agricultural Biotechnology”…..scroll down to see: Pharma crops! Then there is: http://www.ActionBioscience.org: talks about how poorly GM food is tested (well, not even tested in the case of GOLDEN RICE!…it wasn’t tested on animals – it was tested on children!), also: http://www.NaturalNews.com/z028347_GM_crops_Roundup.html,

There are so many places, especially in Canada, Germany, France. I need to learn more – but this is just a start.
The future depends on what we do in the present…and BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD!..both from Ghandi.
As parents, as friends, as lovers of life – we must keep our food healthy for our future and the world’s future!
Thank you so very much for having a place for people to express their concerns! The info just is not in the news, but we have to spread it: I do have one idea: http://www.CafePress.com, a site where you can set up a shop and get your ideas onto 80 products! Look at it and think about it – Please! The idea is way too cool! Peaople need to know and products would be the way!
