See two excerpts from Bertram Verhaag’s documentary Percy Schmeiser: David versus Monsanto in this interview of Right Livelihood laureate Percy Schmeiser, a Canadian farmer who has battled the biotech giant for years.
Gathered here in Bonn this week are some eighty Right Livelihood Award laureates, including the Canadian farmer Percy Schmeiser, who has battled the biotech giant Monsanto for years. When Monsanto seeds blew into Schmeiser’s property, Monsanto accused him of illegally planting their crops and took him to court. Ultimately his case landed in the Canadian Supreme Court. He was awarded the Right Livelihood Award in 1997 for fighting to defend the rights of farmers and the future of seeds.

Mr. Percy Schmeiser is a great hero of our time along with his family and neighbors for taking a stand for what is right against what seems like the unconquerable dark hearted corporation. Here is just a thumbnail sketch of Monsanto’s nasty track record. Agent Orange, Aspartame, PCB’s, rBGH, DDT, Dioxins, Pesticides, Herbicides and of course GMO’s sums up why everyone should fear, hate and despise this (I like this word) despicable corporation. One day that house of cards called Monsanto and their executives and government cronies are going to find themselves facing a court of justice. And I hope jail time is in store for their crimes against this world and humanity. I know it is going to happen just like bringing down the Berlin wall it is just a matter of time. Paul
Really?
I thought that Percy was a hero, fighting GMOs, until I actually read the decisions of the Canadian courts, regarding his behavior. That’s quite separate from the issues as to the safety of GMOs and patent rights.
Go read them.
