This Cooking Oil Is a Powerful Virus-Destroyer and Antibiotic

You’ve no doubt noticed that for about the last 60 years the majority of health care officials and the media have been telling you saturated fats are bad for your health and lead to a host of negative consequences, like elevated cholesterol, obesity, heart disease and Alzheimer’s disease.

Meanwhile during this same 60 years the American levels of heart disease, obesity, elevated serum cholesterol and Alzheimer’s have skyrocketed compared to our ancestors, and even compared to modern-day primitive societies using saturated fat as a dietary staple.

Did you know that multiple studies on Pacific Island populations who get 30-60% of their total caloric intact from fully saturated coconut oil have all shown nearly non-existent rates of cardiovascular disease?[1]

Clearly, a lot of confusion and contradictory evidence exists on the subject of saturated fats, even among health care professionals.

But I’m going to tell you something that public health officials and the media aren’t telling you.

The fact is, all saturated fats are not created equal.

The operative word here is “created”, because some saturated fats occur naturally, while other fats are artificially manipulated into a saturated state through the man-made process called hydrogenation.

Hydrogenation manipulates vegetable and seed oils by adding hydrogen atoms while heating the oil, producing a rancid, thickened oil that really only benefits processed food shelf life and corporate profits.

The medical and scientific communities are now fairly united in the opinion that hydrogenated vegetable and seed oils should be avoided.

These manipulated saturated fats are also called trans fats, and no doubt you’ve heard about them lately. Some cities and states have now outlawed their use. There is no controversy anymore regarding the health dangers of these artificially saturated fats.

And guess what?

These are the same damaged trans fats that have been touted as “healthy” and “heart-friendly” for the last 60 years by the vegetable and seed oil interests!

But the truth finally came out. Trans fat was rebuked, debunked, and revealed as the true enemy to good health that it has always been, regardless of what the seed- and vegetable oil shills told the American public for the last half century.

Unfortunately, this rightful vilification of hydrogenated saturated fats has created a lot of confusion regarding naturally occurring saturated fats, including coconut oil.

  2. We have been using pure virgin coconut oil for many years. We originally started using it for the animals in our Sanctuary, but we use it ourselves now too. It’s great – esp. to make yummy pancakes!!!!! You gotta try it!

  3. There is an irony here which is that it has been known since the 1940’s that soy and corn oils were a problem for animals and humans causing thyroid and weight gain problems. At that time coconut oil was cheep and used by just about everyone. American farmers tried to use it to fatten up pigs and found that it did just the opposite they became more active and leaner. The war brought an end to coconut oil so corn and soy was brought to the market. Farmers tried those seed oils and lo and behold their pigs slowed down and got nice and fat. An animal experiment was also done at about the same time verifying what the farmers found. It was also found that humans who ate the meat of those animals or the corn or soy oils experienced the same problems hypothyroid and weight gain. But who in the government and the food industry is going to let a little thing like thyroid disease and obesity (and all the diseases that go with it) get in the way of making a profit? I got this information from reading a few articles by Professor Ray Peat (one is titled Coconut Oil) an expert on on coconut oil.

    Rady, about the oil from a coconut I believe it is found in the meat. I have seen hand crank oil presses for home use cheap and I think all you have to do is dry the coconut meat and then run it through the press to get the oil.

  8. this contradicts other information i have read on the use of oils in cooking. from my knowledge extra virgin olive oil has the most health benefits (although i have also read elsewhere that in frying it does reduce the health benefits) and is followed by rapeseed oil (i think, don’t quote me). can anyone else confirm that coconut oil is as magical as the author of this article claims it to be?

  9. The food and oil we all eat is important!
    But how many of you have given much thought to the fluoride that is added to our water?

    The University of Toronto had a week long Conference, which I attended,
    “World Fluoride conference, it’s effects on the Brian and Soft Tissue of the Body.”

    Medical Doctors, Scientist and Researchers including Dental Researches from all over the world presented there scientific studies at the conference.

    I no longer drink and cook with our towns fluoridated water!
    FYI, Brital water filters do not remove fluoride and boiling it just makes it more concentrated!

    RO and special ion exchange filters can remove fluoride.
    Better yet, our Governments could just stop adding the fluoride toxin to the drinking water in the first place!
