Propaganda Alert: AP reports Small Farms are Exempt from Food Safety Bill

Activist Post

A day after the Food Safety Modernization Act (S.510) passed cloture with a vote of 74-25, the Associated Press put out some world-class propaganda claiming that “Some small farms would be exempt from government efforts to prevent foodborne illness under a Senate agreement on food safety legislation.”  The article claims a last-minute deal was struck to allow small farms to “avoid expensive food safety plans”:

“The agreement brokered by Democratic Sen. Jon Tester of Montana and announced Thursday would attempt to allay concerns of smaller farms about a food safety bill now pending in the Senate.

“That bill would give the FDA more authority to recall tainted products, increase inspections of food processors and require producers to follow stricter standards for keeping food safe.

“The agreement brokered by Tester would allow farmers who make less than $500,000 a year in revenue and sell directly to consumers, restaurants or grocery stores within their states or within 275 miles of their farms to avoid expensive food safety plans required of larger operations.”

That all sounds well and good, but it only exempts them from having to submit food safety plans, not from inspections that they get billed for, licensing requirements with expensive quality controls, product confiscation without cause or recourse, and even armed raids.  We’ve already seen all of these ugly faces of food fascism unfold in America.  Private organic co-ops have been raided by armed guards, lemonade stands fined and closed down, Amish Dairies raided, and a family farm had 50,000 pounds of cheese confiscated.

This type of food tyranny is only likely to increase when the food safety bill passes, seizing the righteousness of protecting the people.  Evidently, the bill essentially transfers the authority over food regulation enforcement from the FDA to the Department of Homeland Security who brought us the liberty-killing, child-molesting TSA.  Finally, this bill will do nothing to protect the public from foodborne diseases, because it does nothing to fundamentally change the factory food production methods that allow them to fester.

The bill will allow the big agri-cartel to further consolidate the food industry, thus gaining even more control over food and humanity itself.  This, clearly, is the real purpose of this bill. We can expect to see the “authorities” raiding a lot more small, private health-food cooperatives like in the video below.  Tyranny is coming to a family farm or organic co-op near you.

  1. I really wish that these people…who we have elected at some point in time,
or who have been selected favorites for some reason, probably this, would get out of our face, our kitchen, our garden, our farm, our food, our health,
    our freedom.

Maybe the push back should be on the backgrounds of those that would
persecute our right to be free and healthy?

  2. You forgot to include “get out of” our PANTS!!! lol. BTW, the Video is missing…

  3. You got is sister!
All this is on the premise of the official story! So why then broadcast
that certain groups would be off limits for religious reasons? What about everyones religious reason? Our health spills over into other areas of
intrusion. Our health, including physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual and anything pertaining to our person should be protected under the constitution, yes?

I am becoming a health advocate after serious implication from an overdose of 30 years of Monsanto, the sugar factory. I see that we
are being wearied on all fronts, I guess they call it a “frontal assault”
but, as you said, they are now getting into our pants by a federal mandate.

Push back! Get out of my pants!

    Regards

  4. Frontal assault, I LOVE it. Great pun. I was a vegetarian for many many years, and then started eating meat again. I am now transitioning back to being a full vegetarian. This insanity has to stop, and it stops with each one of us. Grow your own, go local, SPEAK UP EVEN IF YOUR VOICE SHAKES! Peace…

  5. Grew chive onions this summer, simple enough. During the rain I collected rain water…I collected it in really neat jug wine bottles. I think the wine goes well with the chive on anything I cook. I want zuchinni and other squash in the summer. I want my hands to plant and reap, grow and serve,
and I want my spirit to soar in freedom, don’t you?

I store purified water in the jugs and have filled the garage with storage
to maintain a pantry. It will serve for about 2 weeks right now. Good
enough for a short emergency, power out, food out, but then it’s not
enough…what else is there without the beauty of a garden and the
sweet savor of the produce given to us freely? We need freedom!

Thank you for commenting back. I needed that!

    Take care.

  6. Right on! We are going back to growing our own and buying from local farmers in 2011. I have just had it with all the BS. BTW, yummm, chives and wine 🙂

  7. Something great! Fresh chive on a wonderful baked potatoe with a glass
of wine…and whatever else you desire! LOL

You may like to listen to Drew Tretick, violinist, a young prodigy and Russian immigrant when you dig into that wonderful repast!

  8. They’re going to CONTINUE lie to us, just like FDA does, CDC does, NASA does, USGS does, the Congress does, the pResident does, the whole bunch of them beholden to the bribes they take and the blackmail they get caught in.

  9. FDA is full of Monsanto X associates…money speaks.

  10. Oh, forgot to mention the new inheritance tax…it will starve many!

  11. It is SO clear that it is time to take to the streets…where IS everyone that I used to march with, get arrested with, fight all the way to the Supreme Court with??? C’mon people, if we miss the moment, it will be too late to go back and fix it and people will be too intimidated to stand up.

  12. I read somewhere that they were going to add around 18,000 new inspectors (I have not fact check that). With that many new inspectors who’s main purpose is to find problems there is no way any clean food farmers or even homesteaders will make it. Yes even your backyard garden may be considered a “threat” to the local food supply and have to be eliminated. Small farms that are solely providing product to big food corporations may survive with the help of their new masters, but will be of little value to the local community. They may even be of harm if forced into unhealthy farming practices. All this for a bill that will not do anything to make food safer and everything to make it more dangerous.

I fear if this bill passes, based on previous history nothing will be done to repeal it. I am not giving up hope though, we will certainly fail if we stop trying.

  13. Michael: Direct action. Just keep planting your own garden. They are so overburdened now with limited inspectors, 18,000 will not be enough either. And if they DO come and pull up your plants, plant again…and again..and again. Sooner or later, this will be challenged in court. I swear it will. NEVER GIVE UP – KBO

  14. They have issued that we are not allowed to collect rain water…I am not a farmer, but I am a small farmer within me, to produce that which is a freely given, God given right to feed myself and family.

Family IS the first unit of government! The rest of this is tyranny!

When you water your little garden in a jar, or box, or tire, you will be considered a radical terrorist. Please be one and resist the fear. I speak this into the ether, but I hear my voice deep within me resisting this idiocy.

  15. Sue: I am with you: they kiss my big fat old sweet behind, and if they trespass on my property without a warrant, then I will sue them all the way up to the Executive Branch. I will lie down in front of tanks, I will stad tall in front of the cops with the guns, but they will never take my freedoms away while I draw breath. FEAR is a teacher, learn well.

  16. When the student is ready the teacher appears…
