Eco-activist Tim DeChristopher was sentenced to two years for bidding on public lands for which he could not pay. (He later acquired the funds). His act of civil disobedience stopped the illegal auction of oil and gas leases on thousands of acres of public land. No authorities have been criminally charged for the illegal auction.
